About

In 1993 Reid Proctor completed a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Southern California. By graduation he had developed a desire to go into secondary education. For the next 15 years he worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District, first as a teacher of mathematics and then as a technology coordinator for a large K-12 school of over 2,000 students. During that time he completed an M.A. in education.

For a brief time, Reid worked as the technology coordinator of the Georgia Virtua Academy. About nine months into this new position an opportunity to transition to a career in higher education became available. He soon started working for the Mercer University College of Pharmacy (MUCOP). Reid has worked at the MUCOP for 15 years and counting. In that time his role has included a number of responsibilities.

  • Providing leadership and training in the areas of instructional design, technology integration into teaching, and evidence-based instructional methods.
  • Overseeing the implementation and ongoing use of multiple instructional systems
  • Teaching pharmacy calculations to Pharm.D. students
  • Direct multiple large enrollment courses within a Pharm.D. program.
  • Advising students
  • Training students in evidence-based learning strategies.

To support his work at the MUCOP, Reid completed a Ph.D. (Higher Education Leadership) in 2018.

Reid’s professional passions have resolved to two domains: helping faculty be successful instructors and helping students be better learners.

In addition to his work at the MUCOP Reid is a husband to his wife Andrea and a father to their three teenage boys, Noah, Elijah, and Micah.
